Executive Search
RNG Group runs executive and leadership searches for employers
across the Mountain West and Pacific Northwest — the CTOs, VPs, directors and heads
of function whose hire changes how a company performs.
These searches work differently from filling an individual contributor role. The
people worth hiring are not looking, they will not respond to a job posting, and the
conversation has to be worth their time before they will take a call. That is
relationship work, which is what we were built to do.
Roles we search for
- CTOs, VPs of Engineering and Heads of Product
- CFOs, VPs of Finance and Controllers
- COOs and VPs of Operations
- VPs of Sales and Chief Revenue Officers
- Heads of People and HR Directors
- Plant and general managers
- Practice and division leadership
How an executive search runs
- Scope. We work out what the role actually needs to achieve in
its first year — which is often not what the job description says. - Map the market. We identify the people doing that job well,
including those who are not looking and will not apply. - Approach. Discreetly and individually. Confidential searches
stay confidential, including when we are replacing someone still in post. - Assess. Against how your leadership team actually operates,
not a generic competency grid. - Close. Senior candidates are lost at offer stage more often
than at interview. We stay involved through resignation and start date.
Why a Boise firm for a leadership hire
National search firms will run your search from somewhere else, with a
consultant who has never placed anyone in this market. Leadership hiring in the
Northwest turns on things you have to be here to know: who has actually scaled a
team in the Treasure Valley, which relocations hold and which quietly unwind after
a winter, what a VP is genuinely paid here versus Seattle or Salt Lake.
We have recruited in this region since 2015, and we are the people you will
actually be dealing with.
Do you work on retained or contingent terms?
Terms depend on the seniority and confidentiality of the search. We will set them
out clearly before any work starts — ask us.
Can you run a confidential replacement search?
Yes. Confidential searches are a normal part of executive work. The role is never
advertised and candidates are approached individually.
Do you recruit executives from outside the region?
Yes, and for senior roles it is often necessary. We handle the relocation case as
part of the search rather than leaving it to chance.
How is this different from your other recruiting?
The market mapping is deeper, the approach is individual rather than
advertised, and we stay closer to the process through offer and notice period. The
principle is the same as everything else we do: people and culture over résumés.
